Sooo, who is Lyka?

The Student:

haha okay.. so hence the name on blog, most of you may know that the main purpose that I’ve created this blog was to document more of my journey into medicine. So, let’s start off with that. In a nutshell, this is a bit of my journey:

Academic Credentials:

Chaminade University, B.S Cell and Molecular Biology, B.A English, December 2018

Clinical Experience:

  • Most of my clinical experiences lie in Family Medicine, Cardiology, OBGYN, and Geriatrics.
  • My research interests are in Cardiology (Heart Failure/Myocardial Infarction) and Pregnancy (Gestational Diabetes.)

The Explorer

My love for travel began at young age. I was born in the Philippines, and immigrated to America when I was four years old. Specifically, I lived in Kauai, then moved to Hawaii Island (The Big Island,) then to Honolulu, and now here I am in Singapore (haha talk about being on the go.)

Throughout my travels, I found that I want to be able to settle either in Europe or Asia… who knows?

The Fitness Enthusiast

I think the definition of being a fitness enthusiast is taking care of one’s body holistically (taking care of your mind, body, and spirit) as everything is in synchrony with one another.

**Side note: When I talk about spirit, I’m not solely referring to religion. Moreso, knowing your purpose in life, like actually digging deeper about yourself.

Sooo, some random facts about me in this area are the following:

  • favorite workout/sports: Mm, Def HIIT workouts
  • Guilty pleasures: pastries

The Writer

Sooo… English is my second language. My enjoyment of writing (and reading) came about in high school, when I was told that I couldn’t comprehend some questions that were being asked on a test (haha super embarrassing.) Since then, I just wanted to hone in one my English language. With that I continue to see myself writing in the future.

So to my friends who are reading this, I want to thank you for being apart of my journey, and hope to continue exploring with you all. ❤

Forever your explorer,
